The secretory of Sri Lankan cricket, Mohan De Silva said that Bangladesh by far is very sure to host Asia Cup. Despite the present economic condition of the country, he is quite sure about it.
He also said that they had left it to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for the announcement. But their board president, Shammi Silva has already informed ACC’s president, Jay Shah about their readiness to host the event.
As per the news and pictures coming out of Sri Lanka, it can be said that situation has become even worst there. The angry protestors have encircled the president’s home. Not just that, they have also burnt the prime minister’s home. After all these events the president, Gotabaya Rajapaksa resigned from his position. It is clearly understood that the present economic and social conditions of Sri Lanka are very sensitive. But the authorities are very sure about their preparation for conducting the tournament. The official documentation is absent till the date, we may see them shortly.
According to the sources of Dainik Jagran, the Sri Lankan players are not feeling safe playing in these circumstances. This has somehow made the chances of hosting this high-profile event in Bangladesh blur.
