Grandmother charged with murder in beating death of her 8-year-old granddaughter

A 72-year-old grandmother, Patricia Ricks was arrested and charged with the murder of her eight-year-old granddaughter.

The officials first caught up on this incident at around 4 pm on 7th February when a minor was brought into an emergency ward with severe injuries and declared dead at Nash UNC Healthcare in North Carolina.  Immediately the police from the Nash County Sheriff’s office reported to the healthcare and started the investigation.

The Nash County Sheriff’s office declared the little girl’s death and found out that the 8-year-old child was beaten badly by her grandmother which caused her to die. There were injuries on the whole body including the head.

About the family

The 72-year-old grandmother, Patricia Ricks was the legal guardian of the eight-year-old who lived with her along with several other siblings.

Patricia Ricks was taken to the Nash County Sheriff. She made no statement whatsoever.

The aftermath of the incident

Patricia has been charged with first-degree murder and child abuse with bad injuries and has been put in the Nash County Detention center. Patricia has been ordered to be presented at the court for her first hearing on Thursday, 9th February at the Nash County District Court.

As of now, it has not been found out what was the motive of Patricia for doing such a thing however the other alive siblings have been shifted to Nash County Department of Social Services. The investigation is still going on. Patricia won’t is given any sought of bail from the detention center.
