The action trio, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham starrer Pathaan is in talks since its release. Directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films is part of the YRJ Spy Universe and is anticipated to be the most-watched movie in film history.
Released on 25th January 2023, on the eve of Republic Day weekend in IMAX and 4DX along with Telugu and Tamil dubbed versions. Pathaan broke many box-office records including having the biggest opening day and weekend for any Hindi movie.
Box-Office records
Pathaan had the biggest opening day and weekend in India. On Day one it earned Rs. 106 crores in India and Rs. 36.39 crores Internationally. On the Global front, Pathaan was the first Hindi film to gross Rs 100 crore on its opening day.
In India, it became the fastest movie to earn Rs. 200 crores on its fourth day and Rs. 300 crores on its seventh day. Globally, it crossed Rs 400 crores in four days which was the highest amount for any Hindi film. Pathaan broke records that were previously held by KGF: Chapter 2 of the Hindi version.
Overseas, Pathaan’s opening weekend had a gross amount of US$25.5 million which includes five days of the week. In North America and Canada, Pathaan earned US$9.4 million which is the highest for a Hindi film. England and Ireland earned the highest gross of 319,348 euros on a single day. As per a report by Box Office India, Pathaan earned a gross of US$31 million in its first eight days making it the highest-grossing Hindi movie overseas.
By the second weekend, Pathaan was the highest-grossing Hindi movie in the US. It was the highest-grossing Indian film in UAE, New Zealand, and Australia. Pathaan is the first Hindi film to gross over Rs. 100 million overseas without a China release.
As of the 9th of February, Pathaan has earned a gross of Rs 551 crores in India and Rs. 337 crores overseas making it the highest-grossing worldwide collection of Rs 888 crores. This makes Pathaan the highest-grossing Hindi film in the history of cinema.
Movie plot
Pathaan is an action-thriller film about a man named Pathaan who is a RAW agent who teams up with Rubina, an ISI agent to take down Jim, an ex-RAW agent turned traitor who is planning to destroy India.
